Outdoor Dinosaur Dig Party Decorations

  1. “Welcome to the Dig Site” Sign
  • Create a wooden or faux stone sign at the entrance saying:
    “Welcome Paleontologists!” or “Jurassic Dig Site – Authorized Access Only!”
  • Add some toy dinosaurs or bones peeking out of the ground near the sign.
  1. Excavation Pit
  • Set up a large sandbox or kiddie pool filled with sand. Bury plastic bones, dino eggs, and small dinosaur toys for the kids to dig up.
  • Border it with caution tape, mini cones, or wooden crates labeled “Fossils” or “Top Secret.”
  1. Dino Footprints
  • Use chalk or washable paint to make large dinosaur footprints leading from the driveway to the backyard.
  • Or cut them out of cardboard and place along the path.
  1. Volcano Centerpiece
  • Create a mini volcano using a paper mâché structure or cardboard and paint it with red/orange streaks.
  • Add dry ice inside during the party for a smoking effect!
  1. Jungle Vibe
  • Use artificial greenery, vines, and palm leaves to give a prehistoric jungle feel.
  • Hang vines over fences, and place potted ferns and tall grasses around.

  • Make signs for different zones like:
    • “Triceratops Trail”
    • “T-Rex Territory”
    • “Raptor Run”
    • “Bone Discovery Zone”

 

Indoor Dinosaur Party Decorations

  1. Dinosaur Footprint Path
  • Create a footprint path on the floor using construction paper leading to party areas or activity zones.
  1. Fossil Wall
  • Tape up “fossils” (cutouts of bones or real plastic bones) on a dark brown background or kraft paper “cave wall.”
  • Kids can even draw and color their own fossils to add!
  1. Hanging Pterodactyls & Balloons
  • Hang paper or inflatable pterodactyls from the ceiling with fishing wire.
  • Include green and brown balloons with dinosaur tails or spikes drawn or taped on.
  1. Dino Dig Tool Station
  • Set up a table with goggles, brushes, shovels, and mini clipboards labeled for each guest as their “Excavation Kit.”
  1. Dino-Themed Table Setup
  • Use tablecloths that look like rock, dirt, or fossil layers.
  • Decorate with toy dinosaurs, mini trees, and name cards shaped like dino bones or eggs.

  • Create nests out of hay or brown shredded paper in corners with plastic dino eggs.
  • Label them as “Hatching Soon!” or “Handle With Care.”
