
- Moon Rock Hunt
Materials:
- Aluminum foil-wrapped “moon rocks” (hide small prizes or candy inside some)
- Small space-themed buckets or bags
Rules:
- Hide 20–50 “moon rocks” around the yard or room.
- Some contain a slip of paper or small trinket; others are just for fun.
- Kids hunt for a set amount of time (5–10 mins) to gather moon rocks.
Prize:
- Anyone who finds a “prize rock” gets a mini alien toy, space sticker pack, or glow bracelet.
- Rocket Launch Relay
Materials:
- Plastic cones or buckets as “launch pads”
- Foam rockets or paper rockets with straws
- Space-themed team bandanas
Rules:
- Divide kids into teams.
- One by one, they must run to the launch pad, launch their rocket (blow or toss), then run back and tag the next player.
- First team to finish wins!
Prize:
- Each team member gets a “Rocket Pilot” badge sticker or a small rocket eraser.
- Pin the Planet on the Solar System
Materials:
- Large poster of the solar system (or black poster board with sun)
- Cut-out planets with Velcro or tape
- Blindfold
Rules:
- Each child is blindfolded and spun gently.
- They try to place their planet closest to the correct orbit.
- Closest wins!
Prize:
- Glow-in-the-dark mini planet set or inflatable alien.
- Space Obstacle Course
Materials:
- Hula hoops (“Saturn rings”)
- Pool noodles (“asteroid fields”)
- Cones, tunnels, jump ropes
Rules:
- Kids must complete a course that includes jumping through hoops, crawling under noodles, etc.
- Time them or run it as a free-play station.
Prize:
- Completion sticker and a cosmic treat (e.g. “Star Treats” = Starbursts or a small snack bar).
- Alien Egg Toss
Materials:
- Water balloons or green foam balls (“alien eggs”)
- Buckets or “space pods” to toss into
Rules:
- Pair kids up or play one-on-one.
- Stand a few feet apart and toss the “alien egg.”
- With each successful toss, step back.
- Last team standing wins!
Prize:
- Space slime or “Alien Egg Putty” (tiny goo jars).
- Build-a-Rocket Craft Station
Materials:
- Foam sheets, glue, scissors, glitter, stickers, googly eyes
- Cardboard tubes or large popsicle sticks
Rules:
- Each child designs and decorates their own rocket or spaceship.
- Display them on a “Launch Wall.”
Prize:
- Everyone takes their craft home + receives a “Certified Rocket Designer” badge.
- Astronaut Training Camp
Materials:
- Printable “training tasks” (e.g. 5 jumping jacks, crawl through tunnel, moon rock toss)
- Punch cards or sticker charts
Rules:
- Kids rotate through stations to complete their “training.”
- A helper stamps or sticks a star at each completed task.
Prize:
- Once they finish all tasks, they earn a certificate + mini astronaut figurine.
- Alien Says (Simon Says variation)
Materials:
- Just your voice and imagination!
Rules:
- Play “Simon Says” but call it “Alien Says.”
- Use silly space commands: “Alien says moonwalk!” or “Alien says float like you’re in zero gravity!”
- If Alien doesn’t say… and they do it? They sit for a round.
Prize:
- Last kid standing wins an inflatable UFO or alien mask.
