Pirate Adventure Party Games & Activities

  1. Treasure Hunt (Classic)

Materials Needed:

  • Treasure map (paper copies)
  • Clue cards or riddles
  • Small treasure chests or containers
  • Prizes (chocolate coins, gems, small toys)

Rules:

  1. Hide clues around the yard or house in “piratey” spots (under the table, near a palm tree prop, in a boot).
  2. Give each crew (or individual) a map and the first clue.
  3. Each clue leads to the next until they reach the treasure.
  4. First team to find the treasure wins bonus loot!

Prize: Each participant gets part of the treasure (treats, coins, or trinkets). First to finish gets a bigger gem or “Royal Pirate Medal.”

  1. Walk the Plank

Materials Needed:

  • Long wooden board or a taped line
  • Blue tarp or sheet (for pretend water)
  • Plastic sharks or fish
  • Stopwatch

Rules:

  1. One at a time, kids must walk across the “plank” without falling off.
  2. For older kids, make them balance with an object in hand (like a parrot plushie).
  3. Add music and make it a timed challenge.

Prize: Parrot stickers, pirate medals, or mini spyglasses.

  1. Cannonball Toss

Materials Needed:

  • Black beanbags or rolled-up socks as “cannonballs”
  • Buckets or barrels
  • Masking tape to mark throw lines

Rules:

  1. Kids stand behind the line and try to toss cannonballs into the bucket.
  2. Younger kids stand closer; older kids stand farther away.
  3. Everyone gets 3 tosses. Points awarded for each successful hit.

Prize: Pirate tattoos, inflatable swords, or gold coin pouches.

  1. Pin the Patch on the Pirate

Materials Needed:

  • Large pirate poster
  • Paper eye patches with double-sided tape
  • Blindfold

Rules:

  1. Blindfold the child and gently spin them.
  2. They try to stick the patch in the correct spot on the pirate.
  3. Closest to the pirate’s eye wins!

Prize: Pirate bandanas or treasure map scrolls.

  1. Capture the Flag – Pirate Edition

Materials Needed:

  • Two pirate flags
  • Cones or rope for marking boundaries
  • Bandanas for team identification

Rules:

  1. Split kids into two teams: Blackbeards vs. Redbeards.
  2. Each team hides their flag and tries to protect it while trying to steal the other team’s.
  3. If you get tagged on the opponent’s side, you go to “brig” (jail) until freed by a teammate.

Prize: Mini treasure chests or “First Mate” ribbons.

  1. Dig for Treasure (Sensory Bin Game)

Materials Needed:

  • Large bin filled with sand or rice
  • Hidden treasures (plastic coins, jewels, small toys)
  • Small shovels or scoops
  • Mini buckets

Rules:

  1. Let kids take turns digging for treasure within a time limit (e.g., 30 seconds).
  2. Each item they find = 1 point.
  3. Can be done relay-style or free play.

Prize: They keep whatever treasure they dig up.

  1. Parrot Ring Toss

Materials Needed:

  • Tall parrot plush or plastic parrot on a stand
  • Rings (glow rings, pool diving rings, or rope rings)

Rules:

  1. Kids try to toss rings over the parrot from a marked distance.
  2. Each successful ring earns points or coins.

Prize: Small pirate animals, gem rings, or eyepatches.

  1. Pirate Freeze Dance

Materials Needed:

  • Pirate music playlist
  • Open space

Rules:

  1. Play pirate tunes (like sea shanties or adventure music).
  2. Kids dance and act silly until the music stops.
  3. Anyone moving when the music pauses is “out” for a round.
  4. Last pirate dancing wins.

Prize: Pirate medal, captain’s hat, or musical parrot toy.
